Apple Silicon recommended

Recall runs on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, but Apple Silicon (M1 and newer) delivers significantly faster embedding generation and AI inference. If you're on an Intel Mac, consider using server mode for heavier workloads.

Gatekeeper notice

On first launch, macOS may show a security prompt because Recall is distributed outside the App Store. Right-click the app and select "Open" to bypass, or go to System Settings > Privacy & Security to allow it.

Server mode available

If your Mac doesn't meet the recommended specs for local AI, you can connect to a Recall Server on your network. The desktop client stays lightweight while the server handles embedding and inference.
